With the CQC rolling out the Single Assessment Framework from November 2023, social care providers need to prepare their services for the new inspection and regulation regime. This will entail changes to systems and processes including governance and quality systems to gather the required evidence. One of the sources of evidence will be the observation, this is the new name for inspection and whilst these only forms one of six types of evidence it is still a vital form of evidence gathering for the CQC. This course will help social care providers prepare for the new inspection framework.
The masterclass will cover the changes to the inspection framework, how services should prepare now for the new framework. It will also cover the evidence types and how existing systems need to be adapted to obtain robust evidence of compliance. We will also cover how the evidence will be judged and how this leads to the assessment of the level of compliance and ultimately the rating for the service. This masterclass will explore how to prepare for and manage the on-site inspection (observation). This will include the development of an inspection procedure, training for staff, keeping records of the inspection and key areas of non-compliance and how to avoid these. The masterclass will also explore what is meant by closed cultures and how to identify and address elements of this which may occur in social care services.
"In November, we will start to use our new assessment framework. This will be rolled out regionally, starting with providers in the South of England. Any assessments from November onwards for providers in the South will be carried out using the new assessment framework. We’ll still schedule assessments by considering the level of risk, so not all providers will need to have an immediate assessment. In other regions, we will continue to use our current assessment framework for now. The new assessment framework will be rolled out to other regions by the end of March 2024, and we will provide further updates as each region moves over to using the new framework."
