The course is an overview of what Non Executives and Governors should know and understand.
The course will look at compliance with current legislation and guidance, to enable the better understanding of data Protection, Privacy and Cyber Security in order to seek assurance from the Board that all reasonable technical and operational measures have been put in place.
The course will enable NEDs and Governors to consider what is required to protect their patient/service user’s and staff data, and to ensure measures are in place to reduce potential risk to the data leakage and consequences of reprimand, enforcement and potential fines by the ICO.

- Identify things to consider when sharing personal and confidential data with 3rd Parties (Police, Solicitors and other providers

Barry is an Information Governance and Data Protection practitioner of many years standing, formerly as the Head of Information Governance for an NHS Trust and more recently as an independent consultant. His passion is to make the subject interesting and understandable for all. He is a Fellow of the Information and Records Management Society and in 2020 received the Information Commissioner’s Practitioner Award for Excellence in Data Protection. Barry was an NHS Hospital Staff and Public Governor for 9 years and now a Chair of School Governors
