Culturally appropriate care is underpinned by a human rights approach to care and to service delivery. In a nutshell, culturally appropriate care is about ensuring equality of opportunity for all.

Care and support providers must embrace the ethos of culturally appropriate care and audit current service provision to ensure that the cultural needs of all people are, identified, met, and monitored. This forms part of a robust assessment and care planning process.

This half day masterclass has been designed to provide care providers with tools, hints, and tips on how to embed culturally appropriate care into practice.

In May 2021, the CQC published guidance on culturally appropriate care, this masterclass will focus on how this links to the regulations and key lines of enquiry (KLOES) and look at culturally appropriate care in practice.

The masterclass will explore cultural competence and why it is important for care professionals to understand, appreciate, and interact with people from cultures or belief systems which are different from their own.
