Healthcare Conferences UK in association with Christopher Fincken, Independent Member UK Caldicott Guardian Council, (Chairman 2012-2017) are pleased to announce the National Virtual Caldicott Guardian Leadership Summit 2020. Following the success of our previous Caldicott Guardian National Conferences, and feedback from our regular Caldicott Training Masterclasses, this conference will focus on developing your role as a Caldicott Guardian and developing your skills in leading the Caldicott function in your organization.
The virtual event will update delegates on the new Caldicott Principle, and an extended case study based session will work with you to apply the new National Information/Data Sharing Decision Template in practice.
Released on 8th December 2020, the new 8th Principle 'Inform patients and service users about how their confidential information is used' is to make clear that patient and service user expectations must be considered and informed when confidential information is used, to ensure ‘no surprises’ about the handling or sharing of their data.
“There are thousands of Caldicott Guardians in health and social care organisations across the UK. They share a common function, which is to make wise decisions about the use of people’s information. They balance the need to protect people’s confidentiality with the need to protect their welfare by ensuring that information is safely communicated among the various professional teams caring for an individual, sometimes across organisational boundaries. They bring to bear ethical as well as legal considerations, making judgements about real life human situations that could not be done by a machine.”
This summit will enable you to:
• Network with fellow Caldicott Guardians and those working to deliver the Caldicott Role
• Learn from established practice in the delivery of Caldicott Principles
